MANTA INNOVATION designs, develops and offers innovative solutions for depolluting the aquatic environment and for valorising plastic waste.
Established in 2018, MANTA INNOVATION is the integrated engineering office of the non-profit organisation The SeaCleaners. Through its activities, MANTA INNOVATION contributes to the missions of the organisation that fights on land and at sea to protect the oceans from plastic pollution.
Plastic pollution is a major ecological threat to the health of marine ecosystems, marine biodiversity, human health, the economy and the climate. It is present all over the world and is particularly visible in the least developed countries where waste management infrastructures are insufficient.
To face up to this global scourge, MANTA INNOVATION strives to ensure that innovation and technology provide curative and corrective responses that complement prevention and awareness-raising actions.

MANTA INNOVATION is a SAS (limited liability company) in which The SeaCleaners is the sole shareholder. The profits made by the engineering office are brought back to the association, which is a non-profit organisation, to help implement its actions to fight plastic pollution.
The Manta, a development laboratory for MANTA INNOVATION
A pioneering solution to fight marine plastic pollution developed by MANTA INNOVATION, the MANTA is THE SEACLEANERS' ambassador ship that will be launched in 2025 to carry out the association's missions around the world.
This giant of the seas will be the first vessel capable of collecting, treating and valorising oceanic floating plastic macro waste en masse before it breaks up into smaller pieces and enters the marine ecosystem on a long term basis.
The MANTA will operate in areas of high waste concentration, near the estuaries of major rivers and in the coastal waters of countries that are the most impacted by plastic pollution.
As a real technological challenge, the MANTA will be powered by a combination of several renewable energy production technologies to minimize its carbon footprint.
This extraordinary vessel will also serve as a cutting-edge scientific laboratory for the observation, analysis and understanding of plastic pollution, and as an educational platform open to the public.

The vessel will be an ambassador for the cause of the fight against plastic pollution, as well as a demonstration showcase for the solutions for plastic waste collection and valorisation developed by MANTA INNOVATION, and for the solutions needed by Green Ships and Smart Ships.
Resulting from 4 years of Research and Development, the MANTA has mobilised for its design a technical consortium of industrial partners and research laboratories , including world leaders in their fields. Since 2018, 60 engineers, technicians and researchers have worked more than 45,000 hours to move from vision to realization.
Each of the vessel's "technological bricks" results from the synergy of the unique know-how of recognised world leaders. In June 2022, Bureau Veritas, a leader in ship classification, gave its “Approval In Principle” on the design of the MANTA. The shipyards consultation process for the construction of MANTA was launched in November 2022 and is ongoing.
The MANTA is a laboratory for the development activities of MANTA INNOVATION. For this flagship project, the engineering office designs customised solutions or integrates existing solutions so that they suit to the vessel's missions and specificities.
